Here's Your Next.....Book?

I’ve been heavily in to my fiction reading lately and I just finished one of my favorite books I’ve ever read.

Maybe it’s recency bias...

Or maybe it was that good.

The internet seems to agree with me that it’s just that good.

It’s why I picked it up in the first place.

I kept seeing this book everywhere to the point I decided I needed to see what the hype was all about.

And at 858 pages...I wanted a challenge.

That book is...Lonesome Dove.

Man this book was fun!

Now if I just explain this book to you it sounds pretty...terrible lol.

858 pages of 2 former Texas Rangers and a group of rag-tag cattlemen driving a herd of cattle from Texas to Montana in the 1870s...

Like I said...sounds boring AF and with it being 858 pages you’re probably thinking “wtf could possibly go on for that many pages?!”

Well...what goes on is a very important lesson I learned about books...

Something I didn’t know about coming in to this book and that is...

That the plot, storyline or subject matter doesn’t matter nearly as much as I thought to make something a good book.

I usually like Fantasy and Sci-Fi books.

Lord of the Rings. Red Rising. Game of Thrones. Knights. Wars. Castles etc.

That badass type of stuff...yet a Western has beat out most of the books I have read in my life...

How?

The characters and writing.

Good writing and good character development make anything possible to read (this book actually has one of my favorite characters I’ve ever read)

See that’s what I learned reading this book and it has completely shifted my mindset on what types of books I want to read.

Not that I don’t want to read what I used to, but this opened my horizons to what can entertain me...and be an amazing book.

This book makes you laugh, it stresses you out, potentially makes you cry and will have you wanting to saddle up and go back in time to herd some cattle lol.

This book has been making its rounds on book social media lately and for good reason.

So if you have been hearing things about this book and have been on the fence...

Or are intimidated by an 858 page book...please don’t be.

I flows VERY quickly and will be a genuinely good time...I promise you that.
